SINGER OPENS MUSIC SCHOOL AFTER GLOBE TROTTING
MEET Jodie-Joy, a Logan mother who has travelled the world doing what she loves.
Jodie-Joy is a singer-song writer who only last weekend launched her first music video single called Naked. The Tanah Merah resident has also been fine tuning the launch of her album titled JJ which comes out in May. She fine tuned her skills during a two- month tour of the United States earlier this year where she also worked with music producer and two-time Grammy award winner Marc Swersky. “Singing is all I have ever done to earn a living. It has had its ups and downs, but a lot more ups than downs,’’ the former John Paul College student said. Jodie- Joy, 38, said Logan was rich with music talent, some of which she said was now nurturing after she opened a music school.
“There is a lot of talent,’’ she said. “Savage Garden came out of here and there are good music stories from here.
“I have been travelling the world, a little Logan girl travelling the world.” She said she wanted to give back to the community by encouraging the city’s music talent. “Part of what I do is getting a lot of joy out of developing other artists,’’ she said. “Where I can help, that was the inspiration for starting the music school. It was to help artists come through the ranks as well. “We teach singing, piano and guitar.’’
