Who is JJ?

This song speaks out about toxic relationships, Domestic Violence comes in many forms, physical violence can be present at times and in some relationships can be emotional, financial and physiological abuse. Making excuses for this behaviour, embarrassment, gaslighting can leave you thinking this must be normal.  Love Hate is an elastic band storyboard bringing awareness to a very real and raw topic. Domestic violence should not be tolerated in our communities.

‘Love Hate’ single song music video release early 2019 was written by Jodie-Joy, bringing awareness and raising money with ‘Download this song to Donate’ for domestic violence held annually in Australia. All song proceeds toward this cause.

My voice is my artistry

Jodie-Joy is a fiercely passionate independent soul/pop artist. She loves making music, her man and long walks on the beach (although not necessarily in that order). Mainly she just loves singing the hell out of songs that grab you by the soul and make you feel alive.

Well known for her eclectic live shows, JJ is one of those live entertainers that transports her audience and lights up the stage with her infectious personality, which has now seen her working in the music industry for over 2 decades. As a singer/songwriter from a young age, working with the likes of Daniel Jones (Savage Garden), Hayden Bell (Veronicas), Paul Mac, Phil Burton (Human Nature) and a professional entertainer by age 12, inheriting her powerful vocal chops from father Robin Donald Smith (Former Australian Opera tenor 30 years), then coached by her grandfather Donald Smith OBE and famous Soprano Greta Elkins, Jodie-Joy’s career has taken her from one end of the music industry to the other.

She’s recorded albums with renowned record labels like Columbia records, taken on lead roles in musical theatre, voted #2 by Australian public as a top 10 finalist in Popstars series, toured internationally as lead singer/dancer in various stage show productions, co-written original music with A-list writers in Sweden and UK, resulting in her first record deal 'I still believe' album released under artist name Jodie, and went on to perform in everything from national TV appearances (Logie Awards, Good News Week) to producing her own intimate cabaret shows.

JJ has had airplay recently in Australia and internationally and when not performing with her band she can usually be found creating new music for her next album or live show. With a resume that spans the globe, having performed at various 5 star venues, no stranger to the main arena stage touring Asia and Australia, New Zealand annual royal show festival circuit, lead singer/dancer at worldclass venues such as Movieworld, Australia's Wonderland, Draculas Gold Coast, Sydney Showboat and Royal Carribbean cruiseline.

Aside from founding her own corporate show production company of 10 years and running a thriving singing school MMC, Jodie-Joy recently embarked upon her biggest venture yet, 2 month tour performing in USA 2015/2016, recording her EP independent release with two time Grammy award winning producer Marc Swersky (Hilary Duff, Joe Cocker, Natalie Cole) whilst filming TV music documentary 'Story of the independent artist'.

Upon her return to Australia she released music video single 'Naked' and continues to carve her own path performing her self titled EP "JJ' of her songss until artist name Jodie-Joy. This album was voted top 10 on Reverbnation and Independent International music charts, gained nomination in people's choice award 2016 at Gold Coast music awards. Further airplay in Australia and gained support locally (Juice FM Gold Coast, 97.3 Brisbane) in her new home town Gold Coast.

Playing live with her band locally raising her family as a single mum, Jodie is set to release her next album, off the back of her latest single 'Love Hate' released May 2019 in aid of raising funding for Domestic Violence awareness. The single was produced by well known US born blues guitarist Louie Shelton and has reached number 1 in Australia on Reverbnation charts.
