Q & A
So who is Jodie-Joy anyway?
Q. OK lets start with a difficult one... are you a sweet or savoury girl?
J-J. A little bit of both really - I keep it balanced lol
Q. Which five words describe you best?
J-J. Singer, lover, mother, teacher, entertainer
Q. Apart from music what are your greatest passsions?
J-J: Family time, travel and creating stage shows
Q. Your blog/documentary is called "Almost Famous: The story of an independant artist".
Tell us about the name?
J-J: I've been fortunate enough to have had a glimpse of fame and that's more than so many artists get. I've had some great opportunities and achieved some amazing personal and professional milestones...
So people often ask me "Why AREN'T you famous?"
The answer is complicated. For a long time I let the people around me decide what kind of artist I was going to be. I was prepared to do whatever it took and there were times I listened to other people's advice when I should have listened to my gut.
But I also have to take responsibility for the fact that I made some bad choices too. I let negative influences into my life and they distracted me from what I really wanted to do with my life.
So the truth is that at the moment I am just that - almost famous. But after all the lessons I've learned I have even more to offer and I'm ready to take control of my own destiny as an independant artist. And I want to share that story with the world!
Q. So if there was one piece of advice you could give to young artists trying to break into the industry what would it be?
J-J: NEVER give up, be true to yourself, TRUST your instincts and be sure to enjoy the whole ride
